6 Fingered Man – Offering EP

Sandman Magazine - Edition 20 - May 2005 Demo Reviews

Bradford isn’t home to much, I mean, just look at Gareth Gates. Sooner or later though, something of note was bound to come out of the city. Enter Bradfordian quartet 6 Fingered Man.If you like big, massive chorus moments, loud fuzzy guitar and most importantly, you like an actual tune, then this is Christmas...

‘Blind Senses’ starts all slow and solemn, but soon rips up a storm as the song explodes into a catchy rock number, reminiscent of Snow Patrol’s more restrained moments. ‘Time Waster’ is another gem that slowly builds up on itself with layers of chugging guitar and big, echo-plexed drums. I defy you to not like this chorus!

The production certainly is rough and ready, courtesy of former Wedding Present member Michael Duane, and is none more apparent on the EP’s closer ‘Day Dreamer’, which soars from the get go, with a guitar sound that seems to get bigger and bigger, steady drumming and pitch perfect vocals combine to provide an excellent end to an EP full to bursting with ideas, catches and plenty of hooks.
